Description

A peaceful, private house set in olive groves.

Beautiful, large house with 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms situated on the stunning and exclusive N.E. coast of Corfu with it's crystal clear bays and exceptionally good waterside tavernas. This 10 mile stretch of coast from Nissaki to Kassiopi is the very best part of Corfu - sophisticated but unspoilt with guests returning year after year.

Annalena is set within 2 acres of olive, almond and cypress trees in the hills above Kouloura with countryside walking on the doorstep. These are the hillsides that Gerald Durrell explored and recorded in "My Family and Other Animals" and "The Durrells" - once you're off the beaten track little has changed with wild flowers, soaring eagles and wild tortoise.

The pretty bay at Kouloura is just over five minutes drive away and has a fantastic fish taverna. Enchanting bays such as Agni, San Stefanos and Keresia are within fifteen minutes drive, as is the bustling harbour village of Kassiopi with it's array of shops, bars and restaurants offering something for all ages.

Motor boat hire is available locally offering the opportunity to explore quiet beaches and rocky coves. Avlaki has an English run sailing and windsurfing school. PADI diving operates out of Nissaki and Kassiopi. Horse riding is available locally.

Corfu Town has UNESCO world heritage status and is well worth a visit for culture and great shopping. Day trips to Athens or Albania can be organised.

Please note:
- we have a washing machine but not a tumble drier
- there is air-con in the bedrooms and downstairs TV room
- the house does not have central heating
- we operate a fair usage policy on air-con / heating / water usage
- you will need a car

Truly Magical

“Magical” can be overused in describing properties. But not in the case of Villa Annalena. Its spell is magical. Transformative. You will experience the serenity, inspiration, restoration, and calm that come from being transported to a place of astonishing natural beauty, seclusion, and peacefulness. While the villa feels remote with no sense of neighbors, one can be in atmospheric towns and beaches within a 10-15-minute drive. Supermarkets, restaurants, cafés, tavernas, boat taxis and rentals, and a spectacular wine shop are all nearby. The villa itself is spacious with multiple terraces, decks, and “garden rooms”—places for lolling by the grand infinity pool, eating al fresco with breathtaking views of the Corfu Straits and mountains of Albania, or curling up on a hammock for a nap. The gardening is gorgeous, with bushes of rosemary the likes of which we’ve never seen. The property is perfect for family and group gatherings, all while retaining the option of finding private spaces for meditation, reading, or, heaven forbid, checking social media. The villa’s living spaces, kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms are all comfortable and well appointed. We lacked for nothing in terms of amenities and cooking and dining equipment. In fact, while we often had lunches out during daily explorations, we preferred to cook most of our own dinners, eating on the living room terrace where we could enjoy the incredible views and the emerging twinkling lights as darkness fell. Janine, our host, was responsive, helpful, and warm in her communications. Her instructions and recommendations were invaluable. Follow them! You’ll learn the best tips for sights to see, grocery shopping, dining out, navigating the island, securing the most appropriate rental car for island roads, enjoying nearby walking trails, and even finding the best melt-in-your-mouth orange cake. A final note… Corfu is an adventurous destination. If you want to explore the island, especially the more inland, mountainous areas with atmospheric, historic, high-altitude towns, you will encounter narrow roads, hairpin turns, and places where two cars can’t pass at the same time. And, yes, for the enchanting views from the villa, you will have to go up a steep driveway with several hairpin turns. But it is a smooth, paved surface, easily conquered by anyone with a modicum of driving skill. This isn’t a detraction, it is what makes Villa Annalena—and Corfu—special. If you want a sanctuary of escape from the world (and who doesn’t these days)—with nearby natural, historic, cultural, gastronomic, and recreational wonders to explore—this is the place. ”

LOVELY HOME WITH FANTASTIC VIEWS

We loved our stay at Annabelle in Corfu. The home is beautiful, and the views are fantastic. The home is tastefully designed and very cozy. One immediately feels invited to relax and unwind. That's exactly what we did. Debbie made us breakfast every morning, which made our stay even more relaxing. Annabelle is quite far from Corfu town, which we did not mind, because we enjoyed other little villages that were about 15 minutes away, such as Kassiopi. The driveway to the house is very steep and curvy, and quite daunting. But after a few times, we felt more at ease going up and down. A 4-wheel drive would be recommended (we changed our car, which worked much better).”

Beautiful home with gorgeous views!!

To say that we enjoyed our week at Annalena would be an understatement. It is a beautiful as in the posted photos. Why cannot be captured in the photos is the peace you feel upon arrival, the scent of jasmine blossoms in the air and the anticipation of the great week that lays ahead! The views are unbelievable! The hikes in the area were a great way to start the day! The nearby beach coves and tavernas were wonderful. The time went by too quickly! The owner was easy to communicate with and was very helpful. The only con- The driving in Corfu was a bit unnerving at first and the road to the house took some getting used to. Narrow and all up hill. When renting a car think manual and small. Otherwise, a dream location. ”
