We’re doing up December with all the holiday touches! We will have a sparkling 8’ tree beside the fireplace and all kinds of decor hung with care to add a touch of magic to your low-country getaway! Imagine staying in a house you saw on the cover of a magazine. Featured in the acclaimed “Old House Journal” magazine, our cottage, lovingly dubbed, XO TYBEE, is an invigorating blend of old and new, with an abundance of outdoor space for living and playing, and plenty of indoor space for lounging and dreaming.

Built in 1930, and purchased from the family who built it, XO TYBEE received a thorough, year-long renovation which was completed in 2021. Threading the needle between providing the comforts and conveniences of modern life without losing any charm or classic beach style makes XO TYBEE a wonderful space to inhabit. Throughout the space you will also find several beautiful murals by local artist Dana Richardson that were commissioned for the home, along with curated art and family heirlooms that speak to the history of our nearly 100-year-old slice of history.

We provide free parking for up to 3 cars onsite, and with the setup of the house, it’s easy to have guests join you for one night or several! December weather is still very mild, between 50 and 60 degrees most days — with just enough chilly days to toss on a hat and a scarf to get your winter vibes as you finish up your holiday shopping list at all of the fabulous shops along Broughton St and across downtown Savannah, an easy 25 minute drive across glowing marshland that separate the islands from downtown, past a lighthouse and even a national monument fort built in 1833.

Three out of the four bedrooms are on the upper, main floor. All enjoy beautiful light, and each of these bedrooms has a door leading directly onto the screened porch. Two bedrooms feature luxurious, Saatva king beds, and the third has two twins. The main bedroom has an en-suite bath with a claw-foot tub.

On the ground floor is a self-contained Garden Suite with a mini-kitchen, full bath, and a queen bed with Saatva mattress. The suite’s entire western wall features another custom mural. The kitchen window of the downstairs suite swings open to create an indoor/outdoor “Beach Bar” with HD TV viewing area in the ample, covered garden-level living space. Hang out with a glass of wine on one of the stools or hanging chairs, or walk around the corner to a cushioned, seating area to relax and watch a movie on the monster-sized, 120" projection screen.

The kitchen is well-appointed and there is space for dining at the expansive island and dining table. On the porch is a large, reclaimed wood table where you and your guests can dine together in the cool breezes under the eaves. After dinner, relax on any of the several cushioned chairs and couches and watch the sunlight fade to evening while smelling the salt air of the ocean. The house is surrounded by native grasses and plants and the backyard sports a TIKI fire pit around which you and your guests can gather to stargaze and listen to the crackle of the campfire. Off the back deck is where you will find the outdoor shower--a little luxury to rinse the sand off from a day at the beach.

The beach is at the end of the street, just yards from the house itself. Nestled on the beach-side of Butler Avenue, which is Tybee's main drag, XO TYBEE is a half block away from the island's only grocery store and centrally located in the middle of Tybee Island’s north/south axis. There is plenty of space to store your bikes if you bring them, or we can recommend a place to rent a few beach cruisers while you are here. If you want to explore Savannah, it is only 25 minutes away. Both Hilton Head Island or Jekyll Island/St Simon’s Island are easy trips about 90 minutes in either direction.
