Relaxing stay with the best view

My husband and I had a really relaxing stay at Hillside Hideaway in The Dalles, Oregon. It was our first Third Home stay and it went very smoothly. Stacy was super easy to communicate with and answered promptly. The house was very clean and the perfect spot to explore Oregon and Washington. We rode bikes to the waterfalls, went white water rafting in the Dechutes River, explored the small town of The Dalles and the town of Hood River along with some small hikes and winery visits. Mike's ice cream was a favorite of ours in Hood River as well as the Three River's Grill for dinner and cocktails. It's a laid back area with casual dress. Most places are fine with shorts and hiking gear. Our very favorite thing was to sip our new bottle of wine that we discovered on a winery tour that day (Cascade Hills) on the front porch overlooking the Columbia River.as the sun went down. In the morning, I loved listening to the birds on the master bedroom deck while enjoying coffee. The high tech master bath was a nice treat too! If you want a relaxing getaway to explore this area....this is a find.”

Wonderful home with hilltop views of the Columbia River

We had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous, clean, comfortable, beautifully renovated home, complete with modern high-tech updates. The views of the Columbia River Gorge from the windows are stunning. We also loved spending time on the wrap-around patio, which was perfect for a BBQ. The location is only 20 to 25 minutes from Hood River and the Fruit Loop, with a plethora of fantastic local breweries and u-pick small farms nearby. It’s a dream spot for outdoor activities, with great fishing, biking, and world-class windsurfing and foiling opportunities within minutes. The home is also just an easy drive from the Maryhill Art Museum, the life-size Stonehenge replica, the fun drive-thru a private Safari park called Schreiner ranch, and the excellent Columbia Gorge Museum. The best part about the stay was the amazing hosts. They were truly incredible in every way; super responsive, warm, and incredibly welcoming. It truly felt like a peaceful home away from home!”

Our stay in May 2026

We enjoyed our visit to The Dalles very much. It's a small, cozy town. The house is beautiful, and the kitchen and the rooms are well-maintained with high-end appliances. The view from the living room is spectacular. We took short trips to the waterfalls, hiked, and drove the scenic roads. Did a day trip to Portland; our first time in this part of the country, and we enjoyed it very much. ”
