May 2026Zen Retreat in Nairobi
This was a very relaxing stay at a beautiful home with a private pool, two very well-behaved sweet dogs, and hundreds of white butterflies . . . oh, and a family of warthogs that visit the property daily! If you're lucky, you'll also catch a glimpse of the giraffes from the neighboring Giraffe Center as you sip cocktails from the poolhouse rooftop during sundown. This home is close to everything in Nairobi you'll want to see, including the Nairobi National Park where you can see numerous wild African animals (including zebras, rhinos, elephants, and even a leopard lounging in the tree) with the city of Nairobi in the background (very unusual and cool!). Karin and her husband were wonderful hosts and provided invaluable insider information that helped make our stay in Nairobi exceptional - their restaurant recommendations were spot-on (the food scene in Nairobi exceeded our expectations) and we very much enjoyed our safari experience that Karin helped us book. Maddie, the housekeeper, is an absolute plus - she speaks good English and is a wonderful cook. All in all, this was a wonderful stay and a great way to get over jet-lag before continuing on to our safari trip.”
