Description

Octagonal Forest Treehouse with Private Spring-Fed Hot Tub

Rising from a solid central base above native bush, this one bedroom, one bathroom octagonal treehouse places guests level with the forest canopy on Waiheke Island’s eastern end. A boardwalk leads through kauri, nikau, and manuka to the elevated structure, where untreated timber walls and a soaring ceiling create a distinct woody aroma upon entry. Windows wrap the space, drawing in filtered light and birdsong from the surrounding bush.

The owner resides on the property and personally manages the treehouse accommodation, ensuring attentive yet discreet oversight while preserving guests’ privacy and sense of seclusion.

The main living area combines sleeping, lounge, and kitchen beneath the vaulted ceiling. A queen bed with quality linen anchors the room, while a sofa and wood burner provide comfort in cooler months. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, and a trapdoor stair leads down to the bathroom with bath and shower on the lower level. There is no Wi-Fi inside the treehouse, encouraging disconnection, though limited reception is available near the parking area.

A wraparound deck extends the interior outward, offering a platform above the forest floor. A private outdoor hot tub is available exclusively for treehouse guests and can be filled with fresh spring water from late afternoon. Guests may also pre-book spa treatments in the on-site forest tent, available exclusively to those staying in the treehouse.

The property is approximately thirty to forty-five minutes by car from the Matiatia ferry terminal. The final stretch includes gravel road access and a downhill gravel path to the treehouse.

This setting suits members seeking privacy, immersion in native bush, and a slower rhythm removed from Waiheke’s busier western villages. Elevated above the forest floor, the experience remains defined by canopy-level seclusion and the quiet of the surrounding trees.
