Description

Woodhaven Mountain Retreat

“Asheville is a mountain city with an artsy soul.” — Lonely Planet

Highlights:
• Secluded log-home retreat set among more than 240 wooded acres

• Mountain-view deck with hot tub, fire pit, and elevated outdoor living

• Vaulted interiors with handcrafted railings, wormy maple floors, and a wood-burning fireplace

Woodhaven offers a deeply private mountain escape in the Blue Ridge foothills of western North Carolina, where wooded acreage, elevation, and quiet create a rare sense of retreat. Set at approximately 2,800 feet and one of only four homes across more than 240 wooded acres, the residence feels removed without being isolated, with Chimney Rock and Lake Lure within a 15-minute drive, Black Mountain about 30 minutes away, and Asheville about 45 minutes away.

Inside, the 2,400-square-foot custom log home is anchored by an open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area designed for gathering. Floor-to-ceiling windows draw the mountain setting directly into the room, while vaulted ceilings, handcrafted railings, wormy maple floors, and a wood-burning fireplace give the space a rich, tactile character. The result is a living environment that feels both rustic and refined, equally suited to slow mornings, shared meals, and fireside evenings after a day in the mountains.

The bedroom layout is well suited to families or multi-generational stays, with thoughtful privacy across two levels. On the main level, the primary suite features a king bed, Smart TV with Firestick, and an en suite bath with a garden soaking tub and steam shower. A second main-level bedroom offers a queen bed and convenient access to another full bath. Upstairs, a loft lounge with Smart TV, futon, and sofa adds flexible gathering space, while the third bedroom includes a bunk bed with a double on the bottom and twin above, complemented by a queen futon in the sitting area.

Outdoor living is central to the Woodhaven experience. The large back deck creates an elevated perch for taking in mountain views, soaking in the four-person hot tub, or lingering over coffee as the forest shifts with the light. A generous fire pit area extends the evening outdoors, offering a natural setting for cool mountain nights, conversation, and stargazing. The home is also dog-friendly, excluding cats, and includes high-speed internet, Hulu service, and Firestick-equipped TVs for streaming.

The surrounding region offers a balanced mix of quiet retreat and accessible adventure, from Chimney Rock State Park and Lake Lure to the restaurants, galleries, breweries, and mountain-town charm of Black Mountain and Asheville. Guests should note that AWD or 4WD is recommended, and arrival during daylight hours is strongly advised, particularly for a first visit. Woodhaven is best understood as a private mountain residence made for unhurried connection, immersive natural beauty, and the understated comfort of a well-crafted Blue Ridge escape.
