Beautiful Villa & Resort for Families, not for Couples.

My husband and I stayed at Anantara Vacation Club Mai Khao for our 25th anniversary. Our villa with private pool was really lovely, comfortable and very spacious. The resort’s staff were very attentive and the grounds are beautiful, but the resort as a whole is primarily focused on the enjoyment of families with young children/tweens. As parents of grown kids who were not with us, we were disappointed that the “adult” pool was always filled with many kids because there is a permanent and very large inflated playground installed in the middle of the adult pool. Even the bar near the adult pool only had kids sitting on the stools. There is a kid’s water park area on one side of the adult pool, a teen/kid’s club at the end of the adult pool, a restaurant at the other side and a very small area with chaises on the last side of the pool. My husband and I never went into the “adult” pool because it was in no way relaxing for adults without kids. We did buy day passes to use the beautiful and sprawling beachfront pool across the street at the JW Marriott and also visited the Anantara resort across the street numerous times for adult-focused live entertainment, cocktails and food. If you are not traveling with children, I do not recommend booking the Anantara Vacation Club Mai Khao unless you are okay with staying in your villa the whole time. The resort staff is great at helping to book a driver, suggest excursions and give you quick rides in Turtle Village down the road. ”

Flawless luxury

We felt very pampered during our week at this resort. Everything is immaculate. And just in case it isn't, the cleaners, gardeners and pool people are constantly on the job. The Vacation Club resort and adjoining Anantara Hotel both benefit from beautiful well kept grounds. I spent many happy hours just wandering around. The main pool is nice and big, though we mostly used our private villa pool for convenience. My partner used the gym and was happy with the facilities. A few parts of the resort were out of commission when we were there (restoration work) so I can't speak for those but every meal we ate at our resort or the Anantara hotel was tasty, thoughtfully prepared and with excellent service. The breakfast buffet is one of the most extensive I've seen. The villa was spacious and comfortable. I liked that we could set temperature room by room so we could all be comfortable. It was handy having laundry facilities too. Kitchen equipment a bit basic so we didn't get into cooking. Although I've visited Thailand before, it was my first time in Phuket. It's a very easy place. Car hire is good value and the roads are in good condition so we could get around easily. It's well worth doing a boat trip to some of the other smaller islands nearby, and we enjoyed an afternoon in Old Phuket. ”

Great villa, very relaxing, exactly what we needed

Experience exactly what you can see in the photos. Service was great, food was surprisingly good - lots of variety. Activities were good, Pickle Ball, Ping Pong, Basketball court. JWMarriott next door if you want to get out, and a little commercial area with other restaurants 500m away. If you want a vacation club villa experience its great.”
