Wonderful Mountain Views

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Harry’s home in Hound Ears. From the moment we arrived, it was clear how much care and attention has gone into the property. He even topped several trees to give a clear view to Grandfather Mountain. The home was perfect for our family. The location is hard to beat—peaceful and scenic, yet just a short drive from Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, and all the outdoor activities the High Country has to offer. We especially enjoyed relaxing on the porch and taking in the cooler weather after busy days exploring the area with hiking, rafting, breweries, and the Alpine Coaster. Harry was an exceptional host. Communication was prompt, friendly, and helpful before, during, and after our stay. He made everything effortless and ensured we had everything we needed for a great vacation. If you’re looking for a comfortable, well-appointed mountain retreat with a host who genuinely cares about your experience, we couldn’t recommend Harry’s home more highly. We would gladly stay here again and hope to return many times in the future.”

I Lift My Eyes to the Hills

Many thanks for a wonderful and much needed vacation. Hound Ears was well appointed with the highlight being the magnificent view of Grandfather Mountain from the large back deck (See property cover photo). The owner was very generous and arranged for access to the Hound Ears Club, which quickly became one of my favorite courses weaving through the valley, up a few large hills and over some gorgeous streams. Hiking, shopping in Blowing Rock and Boone, rafting and drives on the Blue Ridge Parkway were all lots of fun as well. Definitely would come back. ”

Eagles Nest

Nancy and I really enjoyed our stay at Eagles Nest. The owner, Harry McNair, was quite helpful prior to and during our stay. He sponsored us for golf on the Hound Ears course, which is a beautifully maintained and playable layout. The house was quite nice, comfortable and well appointed. We spent a lot of time on the porch, relaxing and just taking in the natural beauty of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains and the valley below. One word of caution to future guests...try to arrive in daylight hours!! The road up the mountain is narrow with a lot of switchback turns. Once you get the hang of it, no problem. We visited Blowing Rock and Boone and went to an Appalachian State football game. Plenty of good restaurants and cafés within reasonable driving distance. We had a delightful evening at The Table, with outside dining and live music on Thursdays.There is a really nice, medium challenging, hiking trail inside the confines of Hound Ears. The Blue Ridge Parkway is gorgeous, especially this time of the year when the leaves are starting to turn. All in all, a GREAT week in the North Carolina mountains.”

Several small towns for exploring are nearby; we spent our time mostly in Boone and Blowing Rock. The owner, Harry, gave excellent restaurant recommendations! We would love to return. Short drive to Linville Falls, Grandfather Mountain & original Mast General Store in Valle Crucis. Highly recommend a stay here if you’re looking for a get away in the NC Mountains!”
