Description

Midcentury Palm Springs with Pool and Mountain Views

Highlights:
• Alexander home in historic Racquet Club Estates

• Mountain-view pool and spa beneath desert skies

• Downtown Palm Springs just 1.3 miles away

Built by the Alexander Construction Company in 1960, this restored midcentury home offers an authentic Palm Springs experience in historic Racquet Club Estates. Post-and-beam architecture, playful designer interiors and views of the San Jacinto Mountains give the single-level residence an unmistakable sense of place. Its architectural pedigree includes an appearance on the 2018 Modernism Week Home Tour.

Vaulted ceilings and walls of glass fill the open living spaces with desert light while connecting the interiors to the pool yard. Colorful furnishings and curated artwork bring energy to the living and dining areas, while a fireplace creates a comfortable gathering place after sunset. The fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, oven, stovetop, microwave, blender, toaster, ice maker and coffee maker.

Three bedrooms accommodate up to six guests. The primary suite features a king bed, ensuite bathroom and direct pool access, while the second bedroom offers another king bed. The third bedroom is typically arranged with two extra-long twin beds that can be converted into a king upon request. Each bedroom includes a smart television, storage and private courtyard access. Two full bathrooms -- the hallway bathroom has a bathtub/shower and the ensuite bathroom has a walk-in shower.

The fully walled yard centers around a kidney-shaped pool and spa framed by mountain views. Guests can lounge beside the water, rinse off in the outdoor shower or gather for drinks at the outdoor bar with its own fire feature. A barbecue, alfresco dining area and separate firepit lounge extend outdoor living into the evening. Pool and spa heating can be arranged for an additional daily fee.

Racquet Club Estates provides convenient access to the architecture, dining and culture that define Palm Springs. Downtown is approximately 1.3 miles away, while Palm Canyon Drive is less than a mile from the home. Restaurants, boutiques, galleries, nightlife and celebrated modernist landmarks are all within easy reach, creating a colorful base for experiencing the city’s desert lifestyle.

Property View

San Jacinto Mountain and desert landscape. In our opinion, we have one of the most epic, unobstructed views of the San Jacinto -- you can even see the tram going up and down the mountain at night! The views are an absolute highlight of the property.

House Rules

Palm Springs has specific rules that govern every short-term rental property in the city. These rules include limits on the number of cars, the number of guests allowed at one time during the day, and restrictions on amplified music. These rules are basically common-sense restrictions to help ensure the neighborhood remains normal rather than in chaos. Short-term tenants must abide by these rules, and they are subject to fines/early termination if they violate policies. In the 8+ years we have offered our house for short-term rent, only 1 person was ever evicted for violating these policies (she was attempting to have a party for nearly 100 friends).

Additional Fees

Optional: Pool heating is available for an additional daily fee--generally speaking, the pool (unheated) is comfortable from May-October; in addition, guests have the option to pay for pool heating if they choose. Jacuzzi heating, however, is always included for free for our guests.
