Description

Manchester-by-the-Sea Historic Estate with Four-Acre Gardens

Highlights:
• Singing Beach and village center within easy reach

• Crane Beach and Cape Ann coastline nearby

• Salem and Boston accessible by commuter rail

This historic four-bedroom estate accommodates up to eight guests on approximately four landscaped acres in Manchester-by-the-Sea. The spacious property offers a peaceful setting near the coast while remaining convenient to the village, beaches, and surrounding North Shore destinations.

Built in 1790 by a sea captain who fought in the Revolutionary War, the home retains its New England character through original hardwood floors, antiques, traditional architectural details, and English country-style interiors. A large updated kitchen, formal dining room, multiple living spaces, and an office provide plenty of room for families and groups to gather while still offering separate areas for privacy.

The four bedrooms include two king bedrooms, one queen bedroom, and one double bedroom, accommodating up to eight guests. Air conditioning is available in select bedrooms rather than throughout the entire home. Several rooms feature original architectural details and views across the surrounding gardens and mature trees.

Outside, expansive lawns, flowering shrubs, English-style gardens, Japanese maples, birches, and a historic gazebo surround the home. An approximately 400-year-old copper beech tree is another distinctive feature of the grounds. Guests have private use of the seasonal heated pool, measuring approximately 45 by 22 feet and surrounded by bluestone patios and a vine-covered arbor. The pool is generally available from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The property is within walking and biking distance of Manchester-by-the-Sea and Singing Beach, which is approximately five minutes away by car. Crane Beach is about 15 minutes away, while Gloucester, Halibut Point State Park, and Salem offer additional coastal, historic, and cultural experiences. Nearby commuter rail service also provides convenient access to Salem and Boston.
