Wonderful property and staff!

Our family of 6 adults stayed at this property the second week in June and it was wonderful! The house has a unique configuration, where the bedrooms are separated (connected by breezeways) from the great room/kitchen areas. This design affords the opportunity to really enjoy the indoor/outdoor features of the property. And though there were thunderstorms nearly every night, the days were primarily clear and warm. We enjoyed the pool several times a day! The staff is also wonderful - Rafael often took the time to show us where he had spotted a sloth or some Howler monkeys in the trees on the property, and Amporo is a fantastic cook! Emilio, the property manager was also very responsive and helpful for any questions we had. The whole property is well maintained and very private. The host is also highly communicative and helpful, we really enjoyed our stay!”

COOL house and a private golf course!

We very much enjoyed our stay. The house was comfortable and I loved the open feeling. The animal noises the first night were a concern since 3 of the bedrooms did not have AC, but everyone slept just fine. The private 9 hold golf course was enjoyed everyday. From the booking to the leaving, Mihaela and rest of staff were wonderful. The daily cleaning and cooking was well worth the extra cost. The meals were so delicious that we ate in the entire time. ”

Costa Rican Luxury

Great stay! Beautiful accommodations, excellent staff, fun excursions. Our family reunion was amazing at this luxury villa. Living areas were perfect for our large group. The surrounding jungle wildlife viewing kept everyone looking into the trees....sloths, monkeys, birds. Nearby Cohuita had several excursion options: snorkeling, fishing, waterfall hikes, indigenous village tour and more. The cooks even made delicious meals from our successful fishing adventure! Highly recommend. The owner was very helpful and responsive in our planning. ”

Private golf course was amazing ... owner easy to deal with

Owner was a pleasure to deal with. Private golf course for just us was amazing. We played every day. Very hilly course with no golf carts, but great exercise. I highly recommend this property and this owner. Beach nearby has best sand ever. Wow!! Costa Rica was amazing. ”

Pura Vida!

This home is even more spectacular in real life....every detail has been thought out meticulously. We received a warm welcome and and given a tour of the home and grounds, including the golf course upon our arrival. The chefs had a delicious lunch prepared for us as well! The rooms were spacious and had spectacular views of the jungle and ocean. When we were not retreating in our rooms, we enjoyed the different lounging areas around the home as well as used the perfect temperature pool everyday. We actually stayed at the property everyday but one simple because it was exactly what our group needed. The owner, Mihaela was a tremendous help and gave us lots of information prior to our arrival. Once we were there, Emilio was just as helpful. All of the staff that worked at the house, were so delightful and did an amazing job making us feel comfortable, cooking our meals, cleaning our rooms and shopping for our groceries. Although we were there at the time of the US outbreak of Covid-19, we managed to still relax and rest before heading home to our country. We definitely recommend this property if you want to experience a true jungle home on the Caribbean side of CR. ”

Great home with private golf!

This home is beautiful. The owner gave us great advise in advance to prepare and make our trip special. The home is about four hours from the airport, but worth the drive. The staff did an excellent job! A hearty breakfast every morning and lunch/dinner when requested. Highly recommend this property.”

Unforgettable, that's for sure

A well designed jungle villa, using at least six native woods that accentuate this unique layout. You'll have to be there to see what I mean! Comfortable spacing for a group of your best friends or families with small children. There were two children ages 9 and 5 that spent every afternoon in the pool after a morning of activities, giving them play and educational time, and for the parents, a place to enjoy the views of the surrounding jungle. What makes Joya so unique is you really see howler monkeys every day, hear them every morning, enjoy toucans and parrots (and a variety of other gorgeous birds) in the trees around the villa, and hear the sound of the jungle every night! Bring binoculars to help your viewing while getting some rest by the pool...oh, and do shop for your favorite food and Amapara will cook you amazing meals. (her crepes are the best) You will have a great week at Joya! ”

Exceptional Property - One of a kind on the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica

The location of this property is identified within the listing so I will not address except by providing a little more detail. From the main highway, its about 1/4 miles before the you go up a steep grade another 1/4 mile or so to the compound (A compliment), not just a house or villa. The property consists of multiple buildings, for guests the building with the living quarters (which are on two separate floors; two of which I refer to as very large masters overlooking the jungle and in the distance the sea) and the building which has the kitchen, dining room and social area. All the bedrooms are very nice. The masters are exceptionally large. I'm relatively certain this is the nicest property on the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica. All the buildings on this property were constructed with considerable attention to detail; beautiful local hardwoods pretty much throughout. Ampara woods and takes care to insure the property is always cleaned. Wilbur is always checking to see that everything is working properly, changing a light that is out, etc. Rafael is the night guard. Emilio is the property manager. I had this property to myself and it was very relaxing. My son couldn't make it and a friend of mine cancelled last minute due to a family illness. You will need a 4 wheel drive for access. I needed a vehicle anyway as I visited a great many beaches north and south of the property, snorkeling and paddle boarding. The golf course is very interesting, tight shots. Play in the morning; it warms up quickly and the course layout requires that you walk down then up. I would highly recommend this property for multiple couples or a family/group larger than mine. It was certainly more than I required. I dealt with Mrs. Mahaela Varga. Prior to the trip, she provided me information as requested. During the trip, she inquired as to whether I was satisfied with my accommodations. The property manager, Emilio, was also on site numerous times to insure that the staff was taking care of me.
