Historic District Home in Santa Fe
Historic District Home in Santa Fe
This two bedroom, two bathroom home is located at the heart of the east side historic district, one block from the Historic Canyon Road Art Galleries renowned restaurants, four blocks from the historic Santa Fe Plaza, and across the street from Downtown Subscription, the locals hangout for coffee, conversation, and news stands.
The home is a classic adobe, for immersion in the essence of Santa Fe, yet it is classic. Some walls are over two feet thick; all walls are diamond plaster, wood floors with radiant heating, wood ceilings with exposed vigas throughout, complete recent modernization, featuring all new plumbing, all new electrical, and all new heating and cooling, rare for a 100 plus year old home. The kitchen features a wolf range, sub-zero refrigerator, honed granite counter tops, and eat in kitchen.
The living room features a wood burning fireplace, a built in entertainment center, with Sonos sound system for a rich music experience. For the workaholic, a separate office with abundant work space doubles as a second bedroom and has a deluxe zoom room bed. While the second bathroom is not attached, but it does have a shower.
The home has a master suite with a dressing room, en suite bathroom, gas fireplace, and separate Sonos music zone, DVD player and flat screen tv. While the home can be described as urban, the master bedroom in the rear of the home is very quiet, because of the multiple thick adobe walls between the street and the bedroom.
There are two outdoor patios; in the summer, the patios are extensions of the home, as the mild weather permits the double doors to be open and the indoors and outdoors flow together for entertaining 20-30 people. A walled patio features a water feature, outdoor dining table and umbrella, sofa and chairs.
An outstanding feature of this home is the natural light, an abundance of windows and skylights make this a cheerful space, every room full of natural light. The finishes are all first class: custom doors, fixtures, hardware, no detail was overlooked.
Numerous gourmet restaurants, local pubs, the Dragon Room and Pink Adobe restaurants are three blocks away. A high end specialty grocery store, Kaune's, is two blocks away. Many art galleries, museums, historic churches, festivals, and one of a kind annual events have made Santa Fe a destination not to be missed.
The Acequia Madre, the "Mother Ditch" was the principal means of irrigation for early settlers of Santa Fe. This historic irrigation ditch flows along this narrow historic street, and gives the street it's name. The historic ditch actually runs through the rear of this property. While the streets are narrow and parking is often impossible in the historic district, one of the unique features of this property is abundant parking. There are seven casitas in the compound (this home is the largest), all second homes, that share 14 parking places. It is rare that two or more owners are present at any given time, so the parking is usually abundant.

What a town!
We highly recommend a visit to Santa Fe. The architect owners of this home have designed and built a real gem. It is perfect for a couple or a family with 1 or 2 young children. The location is incredible. The historic downtown is a short 5 block walk away. "Gallery row" is even closer. Best of all, Claudio and Rosemary have written a terrific guidebook of the best things to see and do. Their recommendations were right on! We will certainly consider a return trip! We spent a great deal of time in Claudio and Rosemary's wonderful home in the Historic section of Santa Fe. The home is completely charming and outfitted with every imaginable amenity. We were walking distance to many of the wonderful museums and restaurants. We spent a great deal of time going to the Chamber Music festival and were also there for the annual Spanish Market. The bi-weekly farmer's market was also wonderful and we loved Museum Hill. The very best thing, though, was the graciousness and hospitality of the owners. Thank you again, Claudio and Rosemary. We hope to return next year. Cecilia Kempton and Don Anderson ”
We had a fabulous time at this lovely home in Santa Fe, just a quick walk off Canyon Rd with all the upscale art galleries and restaurants. The home is beautiful and comfortable. The town of Santa Fe did not disappoint with much to do and see. Being southerners, we were impressed with how friendly and helpful everyone was around town. We enjoyed our communications with the owner, Claudio, very much. Not only was he helpful, providing many suggestions for eating out, but we feel we have a new friend in NM. I highly recommend a stay here!!”
Extraordinary Style and Comfort
This exquisite historical home in the best location in Santa Fe is beautifully designed to leave no human comfort unaddressed. While we did have a car, we usually walked to everything we wanted to see and do and EAT in Santa Fe. Thank you Claudio for sharing your home and your favorite places in Santa Fe with us. We felt completely submerged in the Santa Fe culture making this one of our best trips yet with 3rd Home. ”
Everything and Much More
This home is perfect for someone who wants to be in town and explore the shopping and restaurants as well as venture out to places like Chimayo and Taos. It is perfectly appointed and decorated and very comfortable. I would recommend it highly and would consider visiting again in the future.”
