August 2017The Marcliffe and Aberdeen--a pleasant surprise
My husband and I stayed at the Marcliffe for one week late this August, 2017, and were very pleasantly surprised by the hotel's service and bar/restaurant quality. The Marcliffe room we occupied was generously sized, with a very comfortable king size bed, large bath, and plenty of lounging space. The furnishing are comfortable, though not cutting edge stylish. We liked that our room had a back door leading directly to the car park so we didn't need to go down to the lobby to exit the hotel. In addition, the Marcliffe is situated in a park-like setting on the western edge of Aberdeen, which means equally good access to the western countryside and downtown Aberdeen--both are 10-15 minute drives. As for food and beverage--no complaints. The Marcliffe's Conservatory restaurant serves and excellent locally sourced steak and seafood. It's wine list is extensive, with a broad selection of good wines by the glass. A full breakfast is included in the room fee. Great service in the restaurant, bar, and front desk--the front desk attendants were so helpful arranging for golf tee times, Aberdeen restaurant reservations, excursions, etc. BTW, Aberdeen's restaurant scene is flourishing, and there's much to see and do in both downtown Aberdeen and the surrounding countryside.”
