Gorgeous 18th Century Stone Villa in Umbria

Description

Villa Dolce Vita is an elegant stone house immersed in the green Umbrian hills. The house is built in stone and shows the main characteristics of Umbrian rural architecture. Immersed in a breathtaking green landscape, Villa Dolce Vita offers an unforgettable vacation of relaxation and tranquility.

All the interior furnishings are antique, and they work in harmony with the ancient structure of the house. All the finishings are of the highest quality, such as the 'cotto' pavements and wooden ceiling beams.

The house is on two levels. The main entrance is on the ground floor, consisting of a living room, dining room and kitchen. All the rooms on the ground floor have direct access to the garden via french doors.

From the kitchen one can access the loggia and the pergola, each of them well equipped with tables and chairs for pleasant outdoor dining.

The first floor is reached via an internal “cotto” staircase. Here there is a very large bedroom with king size bed (this room is also reachable from outside through an external staircase) with an en-suite bathroom with bathtub and shower; a second bedroom bedroom with queen size size bed with en-suite bathroom with shower; a third bedroom with a queen-size bed; and a fourth bedroom with a king sized bed. All the bedrooms have window screens, and fans.

The park spreads out over two acres and is home to a wide variety of plants and flowers that perfume the air. The area is mostly covered by a beautiful well kept green lawn and olive grove with 30 trees. The garden around the house is shaded by secular trees and is equipped with wooden sun lounges and tables.

Near to the kitchen there is the loggia and a pergola perfect for alfresco dining, furnished with an outdoor teak dining table that comfortably seats 12. There is also an ancient pizza oven, and a barbecue. Natural steps lead to the swimming pool area with its breathtaking view over the evergreen Umbrian valley.

The rectangular-shaped pool is located inside the park and is totally surrounded by a wooden deck, curated green lawn and covered pergola area. The position of the pool offers spectacular views over the gentle Umbrian hills. It is situated on a lower terrace level to the right of the house, about 100m from the main entrance. The pool area is spectacularly lit at night time, and has a salt purification system. It measures 5 x 15 m with a universal depth of 1.50m. Natural and cotto steps lead to the pool which is lined with blue pvc. The spacious solarium area is composed of stone and lawn and is equipped with double canopy bed, four double-bed sun loungers, six sun-beds with cushions and a covered pergola with climbing roses. The pool is open from the last Saturday of April to the first Saturday in October.

Although the house is located in Monte Castello di Vibio, the closest town center is in Fratta Todina, only 3 kilometers away. Here, you will find a supermarket, ATM, butcher, pharmacy, post office, beautician, coffee bars, and pizzeria.

Our group of eight had absolutely the best stay at this villa which was thoughtfully updated yet retained that special 18th century farmhouse ambience. The views were expansive and spectacular. The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. We especially enjoyed breakfast in the dining room where we planned our day and the living room with a fireplace we lit every night. Our host was very congenial and suggested local restaurants and sites to visit. The villa is very private and the road up the hill was challenging but provided much merriment each time.”

Heavenly!!!

The pictures don’t really let you know how amazing this house AND the views are!! We felt compelled to often rest in the chaises under the trees looking out at their giant Umbrian view across the valley. Big pool but closed because late in season. We loved the owners. LOVED. Arrived as they were harvesting olives. Gave us a fabulous bottle of their olive oil at our departure. Had some great times with them. House has 4 bedrooms. It is big but cozy!! We used their wood stove a few nights. One hour to many fabulous Umbrian towns. Todi 10 minutes away. We’d like to return to our chaises for 2 weeks next time!!!”
