Wolf Laurel Cabin

We built this spacious 5 bedroom, 3 bath, 4,400 sq. ft. mountain cabin with the intent of bringing families together. This home is located at the end of a gravel road at 5,000 feet in elevation. The outside deck offers an amazing 40 mile view of the North Carolina mountains! When staying at this mountain lodge, your next door neighbor will be 3,000 acres of Pisgah National Forest.

While very remote, the home is fitted with all the amenities that you'll need, including central air and heat, a fully-equipped kitchen, high-speed wireless internet, and a 60 inch screen TV.

The main living room has a large stoned fireplace and plenty of oversized comfortable sofas for lounging. The dining area has a table that seats 6, and the center island in the kitchen has bar stools for seating as well.

The master bedroom contains a king bed, a sitting area, and an ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom also has a king bed, and the third and fourth bedrooms are fitted with queen beds. The last bedroom has two sets of twin size bunk beds, as well as a futon sitting area.

There are also two additional sleeping areas, which includes a loft with two twin beds and a window in between. The second area is a converted equipment room that has two twin beds (no windows or closets in this room). We call it "the dark room." Kids love sleeping here because it is pitch black, so light doesn’t come in through windows to awaken them in the morning!

You can hike on trails from the cabin or take a short drive up the mountain to the trailhead to jump on the Appalachian Trail. In summer, there is a swimming pool in the development open and there are stables on the mountain as well. The home is within 45 minutes of outings for fly-fishing, white-water rafting, Biltmore Estate, antiquing, and hiking.

Grouse Thicket Cabin is located within the over 5,000 acre gated community of Wolf Laurel Resort. Mostly surrounded by the Pisgah National Forest, there are 3 entrances to the Appalachian Trail from within the grounds.

Activities within the Wolf Laurel Resort are bountiful and include horseback riding, tennis, hiking trails, a heated swimming pool, pavilions for events, a stocked trout pond, numerous creeks, children's programs, and more. There are also 80 acres of ski slopes and tubing for winter fun at the Wold Ridge Ski Resort!

Perfect Family Vacation

The hosts couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. The cabin is beautiful and oh so comfortable. There is lots of room to stretch out and to relax. The views of the surrounding mountains are beautiful. We hiked up to a couple sections of the Appalachian trail and Big Bald Mountain from the house. You can also go fishing, play tennis or go swimming just a short drive away. We didn’t want to leave this mountain paradise. ”

A family FAVORITE !

The beautiful and spacious cabin sits in such peaceful surroundings and is SO comfortable-it easily accommodated our whole family of 8 adults and 4 grandchildren! We appreciated how well supplied and organized everything is- especially the kitchen which enabled us to cook all of our meals and store all of our groceries etc. The beds are all very comfy; there are bunches of games for family fun and a number of nearby hiking trails and outdoor activities . Grocery stores are within a 30 min drive and all the attractions of Asheville are within a 45 min drive . The owners are extremely friendly, caring and accessible - always willing to answer any questions we had ! ”
