Description

Casa Bonita

This beautiful five bedroom, 3600 square foot luxury vacation home is on Palace Avenue in the Historic District, only a short walk to the famous Plaza, Canyon Road, and all historical sites!

The home's great room features 13-foot beamed ceilings, huge beams and corbels, and hand plastered walls. The chef's kitchen features granite countertops and all new appliances (including a gas cook top stove and a double oven), and is perfect for large groups and reunions. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooking utensils, pots and pans, placemats, and lots of plates and glasses.

Enjoy the multitude of original art by New Mexican artists and richly colored Oriental rugs that brighten the beautiful oak floors. There is also a large wood fireplace and sitting area in the great room that adds a warm ambiance in the winter.

You'll have access to four flat panel TVs throughout the house. There is a 55-inch flat panel HDTV in the great room with DVD player. All of the TV's are on a Comcast cable bundle. You'll also enjoy an Apple TV and NetFlix in the great room, and there are three 40 inch flat panels TV's in three of the bedrooms. Two are in the upstairs king bedrooms and one in the downstairs bedroom. There are music CD's and a collection of movie DVD's, as well as a large assortment of board games.

There are two king bedrooms, two queen bedrooms, and a downstairs bedroom that has two double beds and an en-suite bathroom. There is also a queen sofa sleeper and a large couch in the great room. This home can comfortably accommodate 15 people. There are four bathrooms in Casa Bonita, two of which are en-suite. For your convenience, the laundry room has a new washer and dryer, detergent, ironing board and iron.

During a summer visit, come home and relax in the big bubbling hot tub before you gather for drinks on the beautiful breezy (and covered) front patio. You can then barbecue on the gas grill and dine outside in the private walled garden.

There is a two-car garage, a large driveway and on-street parking for multiple cars in front of the house. Casa Bonita is ideally located and only an eight to ten-minute walk to everything you need to see in Santa Fe. Whatever you choose to do, you'll be able to walk there! Stroll to museums, galleries, churches, restaurants, go shopping, or the grocery store.

In the winter, skiing is just a half hour drive up the mountain at Ski Santa Fe, or go sledding in the park. Afterward, come home and relax in the big bubbling hot tub with foot massage jets before you gather for drinks in the huge great room.

Other activities you can take advantage of in the summer include hiking, rock climbing, golfing, fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing, river rafting and kayaking on the Rio Grande, horseback riding, shopping, restaurants, museums, and bar hopping. Head to the Bandelier National Cliff Dwellings site which is 45 minutes from Santa Fe. There are over a hundred cliff dwellings at Bandelier dating back a thousand years. You can climb ladders to a number of the cliff dwellings! Take a picnic basket with you and have lunch there after walking through the park.

The annual Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque in October is a bucket list experience! You arrive just before the sunrise and watch over 100 hot air balloons take off! It is amazing!

You can also drive to Taos and ride in a hot air balloon into the Gorge, land on the river and take off! Another bucket list must do but make a reservation!

You also might enjoy taking the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Train from Chama to Osier and back in the summer. It is an old classic steam train from the mining and logging days. Definitely have lunch at Osier and then return on the train to Chama. The lunch at Osier is great! It is a day long trip and a lot of fun. The views are stunning. You may even see large herds of elk while riding the train. Unlike the Silverton, Colorado train you are up high in the Rockies with great views!

There are numerous wineries and casinos near Santa Fe. As you leave Santa Fe and head north towards Taos there are a number of casinos and wineries along the highway. You can spend a fun day just stopping at the tasting rooms and trying their wines and enjoying the casinos.

Lovely home and great location!

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Casa Bonita! So many areas of Santa Fe are walkable, yet this home is also a relaxing retreat in it’s on right. We love the back patio garden area, as well as the indoor hot tub! Casa Bonita would be a fabulous property for a group of family or friends as it’s many bedrooms, bathrooms and large great room can accommodate a nice sized group. We look forward to staying at Casa Bonita-again!”

We felt at home!

Casa Bonita was very charming and comfortable. We made the 15 min walk to and from the square ea day to enjoy the restaurants and art galleries. The hostess and her house manager were very accommodating and friendly. We would live to go back again when Santa Fe isn't under Covid mitigations.”

Great villa, well stocked gem near Plaza

This was one of the greatest weeks I have spent in a long time, not the least of which is owed to a wonderful home in a great location near the center of everything but far enough away to be tranquil. The villa is well organized to accommodate a few or many and is the best stocked home I have stayed in which meant we could spend more time having fun. I highly recommend Santa Fe and surrounds and this is the perfect villa from which to make it happen. Thank you Doug and Bonnie!”
