Lovely week in Umbria

Our family and friends had a great stay at Villa Cavagnetti. The weather in September was still warm and we enjoyed the pool and also enjoyable days out visiting Montone, Gubbio, Citta di Castello and the Umbertide weekly market. The house is huge and easily accommodated 4 couples. The location is remote, up a gravel road, but the views from the top of the hill are beautiful and the house is very quiet. The owner and housekeeper provided all the information we needed for a lovely week in Umbria.”

The owners have done a remarkable renovation with care to conserve the historic features of the property. The 8 guests enjoyed a very relaxing and comfortable vacation with the numerous amenities offered in a fantastic northern Umbria Italy location. The pool and outdoor areas were magnates. This villa is conveniently located to Assisi, Cortona, Gubbio, Montone, and Perugia all with the Medieval charm and great shopping and first-class restaurants. Even Florence was an easy drive on quality major roads. There was excellent communication and input from the Owner prior to the trip which made our visit one of the best experiences. The Owner also provided extensive pre-arrival information on all tourist attractions, excursions, wineries, and many other activities. ”

Lovely and quite civilized....

Beautiful setting in the Umbria hills - quite, well appointed, in a personal way, with quality pillows and linens. The fireflies each night after watching the sunset and wine were amazing! We easily found trails from the villa to mountain bike, trail run and hike. We chose the chef each night to make it brainless. Lovely.”

Beautiful villa in Umbria

Angela responded very quickly to our initial contact. Then Francesca assisted us in planning our trip to the beautiful Villa Cavagnetti as well as during our week there. It was a tranquil setting for our week with our relatives .The house was just what you would expect in the Umbrian countryside, but with all the modern amenities. We enjoyed cooking in the well-equipped kitchen and relaxing both inside and outside. We immensely enjoyed using the villa as a base as we explored the Umbrian region, including Assisi, Cortona, Lake Trasimeno and area vineyards. We would highly recommend Villa Cavagnetti to groups who want to spend some quality time together.”

Our stay at Villa Cavagnetti was a beautiful one. We really enjoyed the villa, it is very spacious, very well looked after, very well equiped, very clean and full of light. It is really located in the country side and perhaps a little to far from the nearest town Carpini. But It was a marvelous experience, my one year old grandson enjoyed even the toys available and the pool. Francesca the housekeeper was great, very helpful and nice. The view from the house is extraordinary, breahtaking i must say. I received well in advance all the useful information necesary before arrival and instructions to make finding the place much easyer, directions, maps and places to visit. Umbria is just beautiful and the house is splendid. Angela thank you very much for sharing with us your home so we could enjoy this great experience. I am sure we will never forget it. ”

Awesome views, pool area, fire possibilities

Our pros... great fire wood supply, 3 places to have fires, view, pool and pool area including BBQ, fireplace, dining table, sink. Covered. Pool was cleaned while we were there. So many bedrooms and excellent bathrooms! Complete kitchen, near very lovely village of montone. Cons... the long narrow driveway is white knuckle, lighting inside the house is very dim, even in kitchen, took 48 hrs of constant effort from house manager to get us on wifi. No regrets. A great week!!!”

Ups and downs of Villa Cavagnetti

Villa Cavangetti is quite large and worked for our family of ten with all the bed and bathroom options. The owner, Angela, and the manager, Francesca, were both very nice. The view, gardens, outdoor pizza oven and pool were all things our family enjoyed, and what should be a very nice barbecue, sink arrangement up by the pool was under construction. The kitchen is well stocked and there was a nice basket of “staples” waiting for us. Still, the downsides are something that anyone considering this villa should consider. The Internet makes communications and certainly research very difficult, if not impossible, despite efforts to improve coverage while we were there. Since cellular coverage is also intermittent, this posed a challenge for us. The gravel road up to the villa is quite long and windy—maybe a mile or so—which makes leaving the villa, especially with people prone to motion sickness, a project. The worst part was that there was a burglary the first full day we were there, resulting in a loss of both valuable and sentimentally important jewelry and money, and worst of all, trauma to the kids who came in just as the burglar jumped out of the window to escape. This could have been avoided if we had originally been given the key to the iron gate for the back entrance. The two other iron gates in front of the heavy wooden doors had keys and were kept locked. Hopefully, the necessary key will always be provided and used. There have been other burglaries in the area according to the police and others we talked to. Finally, if you go in a season that there are bugs, you may get bites because all the windows on the middle floor lack screens. Perhaps that will be corrected in the near future, but I would ask. ”
