Arelauquen Golf & Country Club - Bariloche

What an incredible experience! Renting a car was a breeze since Arelauquen Golf Club, where the home is situated, is just a quick 30-minute drive from the airport. Although our Spanish skills were limited, the security guards at the Club entrance were extremely helpful. With guidance from the friendly owners of this charming home, we quickly figured out how to grocery shop and navigate to and from town. Even though it was just the two of us on this week-long trip, the house is comfortably equipped to host many guests. Additionally, the house is a short drive away from some fantastic restaurants, especially El Boliche de Alberto, renowned for serving the best beef in Argentina. We also had access to all the club’s amenities, including golf, polo matches, and excellent dining options. Argentina is a stunning country, and our stay in this beautiful Bariloche home, offering breathtaking views of the majestic mountains, truly enriched our experience.”

Javier was an amazing host from the time we booked to check out, answered every question. The home was stunning, had everything we needed on a private, gated property overlooking mountains and lakes. Centrally located to so many hikes and activities. The local food, wine and beer were excellent as well. Just an all round wonderful week!”

One of the most beautiful places on earth!!!

My husband, our daughter and I traveled to Patagonia hoping to have a fun vacation, but we didn’t realize we were going to one of the most beautiful places in the world. This stunning house was the perfect base for one of the greatest adventures of our lives. The pictures do not do justice to the beautiful views of the house. From every room you are looking at the best views of the region. The owner of the house was in contact with us since we booked the house. He helped us with every detail of our trip to Argentina. We were in daily contact with him during our stay and that made it the more special. The house is built with top class materials: luxury on the mountains. The master bedroom was gorgeous as well as the master bathroom. There is a second master bedroom on the top floor of the house. The kitchen was fully equipped. We were able to hire a cleaning lady to do a light cleaning everyday while we were at the house. The Country Club has a restaurant very close to the house open for lunch and dinner. We hire @Esencia.Patagonia for our daily adventures. We went hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, rappelling, and boating. The beauty of the region is better to be explored from the lakes. The owner will put you in contact with different options for boating. The boat will take you in the morning to the different locations for the adventures. The food and restaurants are amazing, from the Argentinian Steaks to the Dulce de Leche Flan, top quality ingredients and lots of options. We are grateful to have been able to spend a week at this very special place. Thank you Javier and Andrea for hosting us.”

Beautiful

A wonderful vacation to Bariloche. The view and grounds were beautiful. The hostess was very helpful and kind. We were able to use the club facilities and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We rented a car and were able to drive all over. It was only about 20 minutes to down town. We would love to go back!”

Amazing Holiday

Javier is an amazing host providing tips and advice to ensure our holiday was memorable. He even gave us tips for when we were in Buenos Aires which were greatly appreciated. Javier definitely went the extra mile and we definitely want to return, this time in winter for some skiing.”

Bariloche Visit

The house and the view were fantastic. Its location makes it easily accessible to downtown Bariloche and the surrounding areas by car. Javier was a great hosted and assisted us with every question we had. The food and culture in Bariloche area is just very special. I hope we can arrange another trip in the future. Highly recommend restaurant Las Balsas across the lake.”

Relaxing Haven!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Patagonia and our stay in this lovely home. I was apprehensive when booking this vacation because we do not golf, and my husband gets board easily. We booked two itineraries (one with an early departure) and ended up staying the entire week. So, here are our key learnings: Drop a pin (on your Iphone) at the entry to the Polo Club - the house is much closer to this entrance....and it is much less complicated and so easy to find the house from this entrance. Lunch at the Polo Club was inexpensice ($38 Pesos to US$1.00) and he food was good.....my husband loved the Flan and the Arelauquen Chicken Salad. We also went there for coffee and dessert in the evenings.....very, very pleasant. book a massage in advance....about $20 - $30 US. Go Fishing on the Lake - call Victor Katz on Whatapp 54 9 294 460 0794 - he speaks great English, is very knowledgeable about the area, and knows where all the fish are hiding....We had a great time with him on the lake. We caught an 8lb trout. Places in Patagonia that are a must see: Go see the towns of: Villa La Angostura (approx. 90 KM or 14.5 miles. Also go to Martine De Los Andes 180 km. Every one recommends El Boliche de Alberto at 9 km off Bustillo (runs along the lake)...huge steaks!! We loved the grilled Lamb (and Rib Eye - ojo de Bife) at El Patacon Restaurant (off the main road call Bustillo Ave - great view too... (people navigate by the km. This is at 7 km. See km markers (on road signs). Book a trip to El Calafate to see the Blue Ice/Fjords (the flight we were on continued to this place. Wish we had planned this into our trip. Have dinner at El Boliche de Alberto (Km 9 off the main road along the lake). Go to the restaurant called Patagonia Brewery - the beer and the view are great.....skip the food and go to Patacon instead (they are on the same road).......the food is so much better at Patacon ...and great value for money. You will need a rental car - book ahead. It was easy to drive here - except in the town. It was a free for all at the intersections. It is easy to get local money out of the ATM machine. You will need at least US$500 to start. The currency is volatile so best to not change too much when you arrive. Buenos Aires was great!! A tango show is a must! Cafe Tortoni tango is a must see - cash only! Madero Tango was great too - transportation to and back, food, wine and show was $80 thru our contact. They take cc, In Buenos Aires: Go to the cemetary .....Evita grave has the name Duarte (not Peron) look for the longest line......there you will find her grave! Guerrin Pizza is a must try! they do not take cc. Also grab a Pizza for your flight....the airport food is rubbish! Plan to go to Iguazu! Iguazu Water falls (needs 2 days and a plane ride)- on the Argentina side - is a must see! You can also venture into Brazil and Paraguay when visiting here. The place to eat in Iguazu is El Quincho del tio querrido......The Grand Crucero Iguazo Hotel was ok....skip the food at this hotel. The Place to stay is Hotel Melia - inside the park. We also went to the Galapagos Islands...you need 6 to 7 days here - 4 days for travel. hope this information is useful to someone. Happy Travels!!”

The Arelauquen Golf and Country Club around the House

As if the magnifficent house was not suffice, it is placed in the most exclusive gated community in Patagonia, with around 300 houses. With a social infrastructure of restaurants, Clubs of Golf (18 holes), Polo and Nautico, it was an attraction in itself that made our hours of non skiing such as entertaining. And it’s located just 10 minutes from the skiing in Cerro Catedral or the facilities of the city center.”

Exclusive Patagonian Retreat

It was our second consecutive snowboarding season in Javier and Andrea’s house and everything went smooth and beyond perfection. From the host’s dedication in making us feel very welcomed guests to the maid’s care in organizing and cleaning the house for us. And in between there was the amazing house, with two master bedrooms, (the main master being gigantic, a house within the house), more three confortable bedrooms, an indoors typical argentinian barbecue area, and office, and american open kitchen with all the high-end equipment and appliances, a spacious living-room with three ambients around the huge fireplace, one with a complete home-theater, play-station included, all of the above with grand windows with a magnificent view of Gutierrez Lake and the mountains of Cerro Catedral, circled with a great outdoor deck with the same views and a hot-tub. Simply outstanding!!!”

The ideal base to explore the adventure paradise of Patagonia!

What a privilege it was to explore this incredible paradise, all from the comfort of Javier and Andrea's stunning home! The style and decor of the house is simply beautiful, the layout and flow works extremely well, and it is equipped with every convenience to make your stay enjoyable in every way. The views from the huge picture windows of the mountains and the lake are breathtaking! Javier and Andrea are also extremely warm and responsive hosts. They really made us feel welcome, and helped us with lots of advice about the area etc. We did a number of fantastic hikes in close proximity - Cerro Catedral, Laguna Negra, and even the hiking right on Arelauquen estate is also amazing… we did the trail up towards the Refugio and the big rock you see from the house – such beautiful pristine forests and trails! We also enjoyed a trip with a local guide (Nicolas de la Cruz) on a boat across the lake from Bahia Lopez and then a hiked up to Lago Frey. He was fantastic - highly recommended. Bariloche also has some outstanding restaurants... don't miss Butterfly... on the lakeshore, tiny and intimate with only 7 tables and a world-class, surprising 7-course tasting menu with wine pairing. It is really special! We would LOVE to visit again as we didn’t even come close to doing everything we would have liked. We are considering going back in ski season as the skiing around Cerro Catedral (10 min from house) looks outstanding. Thank you again for sharing your piece of paradise with us!!”
