Description

Getaway on a coastal weekend island experience to Newburyport's Plum Island, a small scenic barrier-island paradise, located approximately 40-miles North of Boston. Voted "One of the Most Beautiful Places to Live" and anchored in a rich Maritime heritage, this boating community offers visitors award-winning dining, excellent boutique shopping, extraordinary attractions and inviting activities, while defining "Luxury Coastal Lifestyle". Plum Island and its beach provide a safe-haven for birds who also flock here to enjoy the 4600-acre Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. The park also makes an excellent place to ride bikes along the paths, or sketch and draw from the inspiration that the natural surrounding beauty provides. Enjoy fishing, boating, kayaking, playing and relaxing on the beach's dune dotted expanse, where beach plum shrubs grow wild (hence it's derived name). Explore the island's lighthouse on the edge of the island, and venture out on a private boat excursion to enjoy the panoramic vistas. Discover its many fantastic beaches, including Sandy Point State Reservation; stroll or jog around the island easily, as it's only 11 miles long. Stock up on essentials, snacks and light groceries including wine and spirits at the charming Cottage Island Market; enjoy marsh-marine views as you dine on local delicacies fresh from the sea at Bob Lobster, a popular fish market and seafood shack - choose from fried clams, chowder and lobster rolls. For those seeking a little more of a lively scene, consider the Sunset Bar at Plum Island grille, and gather for drinks and dinner with a view.

Escape the hectic pace of life and come dwell within the charm found within the Peaceful Plum Island Cottage, that was formerly a blacksmith shop. Its delightful interior was recently renovated in New England-style furnishings and decor. The open floor plan exudes "darling" with its brick and natural pickled wooden flooring, pristine white walls, robin-egg blue accent walls and pecan-stained wooden loft-beamed ceiling. A wicker-basket chandelier, pops of turquoise and soothing charcoal grey fabrics, along with the wood-burning fireplace, all add to the comfortable-chic ambiance of the cottage. Nest and cuddle within either of its two bedrooms, offering one King bed and a sleeping loft with one Queen and a Twin bed (perfect for children as the ceiling height is lower in this section of the cottage); all beds are covered with organic mattresses, sheets and pillows for a divine sleeping experience.

Step outside and stroll 3-minutes away to the beach to watch the sun rise over the Atlantic and enjoy spectacular sunsets or stargaze directly in front of the cottage each evening. The lovely pebbled back yard deck will bounce you back into full-energy mode with its vibrant orange deck chairs surrounding a cozy fire pit, chaise sun-lounger and small dining table and a shade umbrella. - there's even an outdoor shower to freshen up after beach-time, complete with hot and cold water. Gather and story-tell with cocktails, while all your cares unwind you into a blissful state of being.

Guests have access to an electric car charging station; in addition the cottage provides beach chairs, beach umbrella, beach towels and a cooler for use.

Adorable Cottage near the New England coast

This place is super cute and cozy! The cottage is very clean and well decorated. It is exactly what you would want in a getaway! Although we were only able to stay 2 night out of the 7 due to a family emergency we experience exactly what this cottage was intended for. It is like going back in time and leaving all your care behind you. The 1 1/2 days we experienced some amazing New England weather for the first part of June. 39' and rainy with gale force winds! Very cool to see the Atlantic Ocean roaring! The cottage itself is cozy, the second bedroom is an open loft in the front of the cottage. Amazing Chef stove and a vintage designed frig. made the experience that much better. Well stocked with so many things that other place forget. coffee, baggies, foil, soap, laundry soap, beach towels........ ! The host was very good at communications and recommendations! Local restaurant and bakery we tried were exceptional! (brine and the bakery next to Abrahams bagel! a must visit). brine had the best raw oysters I every experienced. We hope to be able to go back and spend an entire week on the island! We did get the opportunity Maine for Lobster roll lunch and a pub in New Hampshire which is just a short drive north (15min). Would diffidently recommend this property for a couple that wants to get away be romantic and enjoy the amazing coastal scenery and local hospitality .”
