Hale Honu Retreat

Kailua-Kona, Big Island, Hawaii

3 - 12 Keys 4 Bedrooms 10 Guests 4 baths

Taking its name from sea turtles that frequent nearby Kahaluu Beach, Hale Honu is an oceanfront dream house. Located 4.5 miles south of Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, Hale Honu has four bedrooms, including two spacious master suites. Each bedroom has a lanai with spectacular ocean views. Built in 2004, Hale Honu welcomes you with a spacious courtyard, wading pool with cascading waterfalls and a 6'x6' Jacuzzi with a stunning ocean view. It has a fully equipped gourmet kitchen and top of the line appliances.

Ocean access from the house offers fishing and tide pool viewing. For the less adventuresome, lounge chairs and a sandy 'kids beach' provide a relaxing setting for oceanfront play. After enjoying the ocean, guests can shower off in our tiled, outdoor shower. Hale Honu is located on the sunny coast of Kona and is known for exceptional weather year-round.

Just a 5 minute walk to Magic Sands Beach with a lifeguard, and a short distance from the best snorkeling area in the US!

Great Island Location

We loved our family time at the Hale Honu Retreat. It is perfectly located close but not too close to Kono for food and activities yet not so close as to be overly busy. Close to beaches and has a great cove for snorkeling if Neptune is calm. ”

First, if you have never been to the "Big Island" .......go and when you do, stay here. It is the very best location on this island. Fantastic views, whales, waves, yellow tangs from the Lani and close to great snorkeling, body surfing and shopping. The restaurant strip, farmers market and the boat harbor are a short distance. The weather is the same every day, a tropical 72 at night and a tropical 83 for a high, sunshine and blue sky. Lots to see and do. We went out every morning and came home after dark every night. Bring your camera. We had breakfast everyday on the "Lani", (patio), even though there is a large open kitchen, dinning room, sitting room and living room. I have no complaints and I would stay here again. ”

Hale Honu Retreat

Home was beautiful & extremely spacious - oceanfront view however no beach / swim access (certainly not an issue but something of which to be aware). Very centrally located to shopping, supermarkets, dining, etc ... ”

Fantastic Vacation in Kona

You can't get closer to the ocean then at this beautiful Kona retreat. I would like to personally thank both the owner and also Wayne the amazing property owner for being so great! We really felt at home. This house has a wonderful layout and close prox to the lovely downtown area where we had some amazing meals and fun with the locals. Had a great time snorkeling with some of the best beaches mins away. We also would reccomend doing the day trip cruise on The Fairwinds to visit the Captin Cook Monument that was a blast. The marina for that trip is also only 10 mins south. What can I say our group had a blast! Thanks 3rd home for another awesome trip!”

Fabulous ocean front property.

This was a great property. The views from every bedroom are outstanding. If you are a scuba diver, Kona is the place be. ”
