May 2026Peaceful. Tranquil!
Terre de Blade is definitely peaceful. This is our first time to use Thirdhome and we were not disappointed. Coming from Los Angeles (a very busy city) to a peaceful countryside in France was both relaxing and rejuvenating. My family and I (group of 9) wanted to escape a busy city life for some quiet time and TDB gave us that. The 600-year old estate is gorgeous with a view to kill. I’ve lost count how many times my wife and I went out to take in the views of endless green rolling hills. As a first time bread maker, I was so tempted to try the old, wood-fired bread oven but unfortunately I didn’t have the time. This just gives me all the reason to visit TDB again in the future. TDB is well situated within short driving distances to famous chateaus and nearby towns. More importantly, it is secluded and gave us the utmost peace and quiet. Plus, the chance to wake up to singing birds. The cherries and strawberries, grown in the backyard, were simply delicious. On our last night, we had barbecue dinner in the side yard. Invited our next door neighbors to join the feast. We made new friends on the trip. After dinner, we waited for the sky to get dark for some unbelievable stargazing. The estate is well structured and it being 600 years old gives it a unique charming character. Definitely would visit the Dordogne area again and hopefully stay at TDB again.
