March 2023Solaz
The resort overall was nice and clean. The rooms were very nice. Biggest disappointment in the unit was there was no pool/hot tub on the balcony as it shows in all of the pictures and mentions it in the description. My kids were looking forward to that. Also food and drink is very high priced but that is somewhat to be expected for this type of resort. There is only a breakfast buffet option at $60/person whether adult or kid. There is no option just to order off of a menu. We were a group of 5 so $300+ per day on breakfast is outrageous. We ended up ordering room service instead as it was a more reasonable option. Overall a nice resort and we would probably go back in the future. ”

February 2023Better Places to Stay
Solaz has recently reopened after being closed for 18 months for seismic repairs. We were the first guests to stay in our villa which was probably the reason for most of our issues. The villa was large and comfortable, but not well thought out - two chairs on the patio for a 3 bedroom villa, no oven or even a toaster oven. A few major issues with the villa - in the bath the tile was sloped incorrectly in the shower so the water flooded the room, there was an electrical issue in the kitchen and when the microwave was used it would pop the circuit breaker. In addition the wifi was very spotty which among other things, made it difficult to play music on the sound system. On a positive note the staff and maintenance crew were very responsive and kind. They tried their hardest to make things right. I totally understand new construction and can be very forgiving when things go wrong, but what I think really turned me off to Solaz was the cost of the food. I don't mind paying for good food, but $45 for a basic hamburger is a bit over the top. Solaz is located about 15 minutes in a car from either Cabo San Lucas or Cabo San Jose so to go out to eat is a bit of a haul. If you are going to stay at Solaz factor the cost of the food into your vacation. Cooking in your Villa is possible, but you only have a cook top and a microwave so plan to be creative. While we had a nice vacation in Cabo I think there are better places to stay.”
