It was a perfect base for our family with young kids to go in and out of Yosemite. We also really enjoyed getting out on bass lake in kayaks. The home was clean and comfortable and in a quiet neighborhood. ”

Perfect Lake Getaway with Nostalgic Twist

We had a wonderful vacation on Bass Lake. Chardonnay Chalet was the perfect retreat, tucked on a hillside on the shore of Bass Lake, where the movie “The Great Outdoors” was filmed. We loved both the home and the neighborhood. There was plenty of room for our family of five. There are two master suites, a wonderful deck, and a nice open kitchen-dining-living area with lots of counter space. There is also a lower level with couch, TVs, and an arcade game; this room also opens to the deck. We loved walking the neighborhood; a little store and several restaurants are only ten minutes by foot. We spent two days in Yosemite National Park and the home was a perfect home base. We also made the drive to Sequoia National park which wasn’t too far. The area is beautiful. There are also plenty of local hikes—we did the Mono Trail (great view of the lake)—and plenty of lake options like renting a boat. Kevin was very helpful and kind from the onset. Open communication and a friendly demeanor made our first Thirdhome experience great. Thank you, Kevin!”

Wonderful mountain retreat

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this home. The location was perfect and the decks were great for relaxing and visiting all day and evening. The proximity to Yosemite worked out great too as we enjoyed several days in the park. The home was spacious, and the hosts were responsive to any questions we had. Bass Lake is beautiful and we enjoyed the restaurants around the lake. I could make this trip again for sure.”

Bass Lake at its best

What a treat to stay at Chardonnay Chalet! We enjoyed this wonderfully comfortable home with other THIRDHOME members and we are simply jealous that they live closer and can come back more easily than us. A super staging post for trips into Yosemite and only a short stroll from the lake this is a home to really share with friends. The large communal spaces inside and out make it very welcoming. In conjunction with hikes around El Capitan we enjoyed afternoons on the lake and strolls into the forests. Next time we will have to stay longer. Thank you so much for letting us stay. ”
