October 2022Beautiful place with a potential for improvements
We have conflicting feelings about our stay. The Villa is beautiful, ocean views are spectacular, and the staff is very nice and friendly. However, some management and design decisions made our stay less than perfect. When we arrived we found a nice letter in our Villa stating than our stay includes breakfast and daily cleaning, but we also got a WhatsUp text clarifying that Thirdhome guests need to pay $20 US per person per day for breakfast, and the cleaning fee is $27 per room per day (plus 21% taxes) with an option to opt-out. We immediately felt unwelcome and opted out of breakfast. Residences do not have washers and dryers that makes it very inconvenient to use the pool. The laundry service is provided on request at prices comparable to the laundry prices of typical US hotels. The resort advertises spa services, but there is no spa on the property. In-Villa spa service using a chair on your front porch is not very enjoyable considering the heat, humidity and bugs. The resort is very remote, and it’s a major headache to get a few items for the kitchen as the property does not have a convenience store. The front desk got very confused when we asked for delivery of a few breakfast items, and offered to call a taxi to a market in the nearby village. There are absolutely no activities at the resort. We gave up on using the resort bus to the beach after we had to wait 45min at the pickup point for a confirmed pickup time. We also thought that the person who designed these villas probably never stayed in hotels. There are no dressers or shelves in the bedroom or bathroom, and the shower design is a hazard because of an invisible step between the bathroom floor and the open concept shower. There is no desk or a table inside, so it’s impossible to do any work or even have a nice breakfast. The dining table at the property is located outside and is not useful because of mosquitoes. The doors to the room are not well fitted so we had insects and lizards joining us in the room. All these issues are easy to fix with a little redesigning and extending resort services. The place is located in a monkey forest and the hotel could easily attract more people by offering monkey tours. Group pool activities or yoga would also be easy to implement. We hope this beautiful resort will become more enjoyable to visit in the future.”
