Description

Characterful seaside country retreat "Shilly Shally" / St Agnes, UK

St Agnes, Cornwall or in its native tongue "Breanek", is a small and uncommercialised town located on the North Coast of Cornwall, roughly 11.6 miles west of Newquay, 34.9 miles North East of Lands End.

St.Agnes is a mining village founded in 1846 and is, in the perfect opinion, one of the most beautiful places in England. With its small picturesque town roads, immense engine houses from a mining industry long passed, and its awe-inspiring landscapes, joining the rolling Cornish hills and the vast Celtic sea, St Agnes is an untouched gem, hidden in the Cornish countryside that is well worth a visit.

The dramatic cliffs of the North Cornish coastline is a short off-road walk from the property, offering guests a genuinely Cornish experience combining sand and surf with fields and fauna.

Shilly Shally offers the perfect backdrop to any seasonal escape from family Spring and Summer stays to wild Winter weekends. The house has been styled to present country interiors and create a relaxed ambience. Shilly Shally is located on the Chapel Porth Valley footpath, a beautiful and easy 15-minute off-road walk to the beach.

Shilly Shally welcomes friends, families and couples to enjoy a country and coastal holiday.

Shilly Shally is approached along an unmade country track. It has hardstanding parking for 2 cars plus additional parking available at the side of the lane.

Outside there is a small enclosed garden with views of St.Agnes Beacon, a dining area and barbecue. There is a locked storage shed at the front of the property ideal for bike and water sport equipment storage.

Once inside, the ground floor offers an open-plan living, dining and kitchen space perfect for the comings and goings of holiday life. Whip up a feast in the characterful kitchen with a range cooker and rural view from your kitchen sink. Cornwall is a mecca for food lovers, with local produce from nearby farm shops and St Agnes village.

The wooden country dining table welcomes good conversation and family affairs as you gather over breakfasts, lunches on the go and evening suppers. Relax in the spacious living area as you sink into comfortable sofas at the end of the day and cosy up beside the fire in the cooler months. A cloakroom completes the ground floor. A feature wooden staircase leads to the first floor and a collection of three bedrooms.

The large main bedroom offers an oasis of light and space with a private sit-out balcony which captures the morning sunshine and overlooks the verdant green fields, plus an en suite shower room. Two further bedrooms include a bunk room for children, and a second double bedroom. The family bathroom is no less considered with a characterful use of wood and a coastal colour palette, so welcoming after a day on the coast.

A lovely place to see Cornwall

We had a wonderful week at Shilly Shally. The house is right in the middle of everything that you want to see and do in Cornwall. Land's End, St. Ives, Lizard Point, Eden Project, Minack Theatre - it was all an easy drive from Shilly Shally. And the local village of St. Agnes is cute with shops, pubs, walks to lovely beaches and spectacular coastal scenery. The house is beautifully designed, with a well equipped kitchen and comfortable living room for chilling out after a day's activities. The hosts were very responsive, not that we had any problems. We would love to come back to Shilly Shally.”

The perfect Cornwall location!

We loved our stay at the Shilly Shally. Having never been to Cornwall, we were unsure of where to stay. St Agnes was the perfect location to explore all the sights. We were also in walking distance of the most beautiful coastal hikes with cafes along the way. Don't miss out on an evening at the Minack Theatre. The Shilly Shally was warm, cozy and a place we couldn't wait to return to each evening. Ella was a wonderful host.”

Wonderful

It was with great relief we enjoyed our 2nd Thirdhome stay in Cornwall after a disastrous stay in Venice . Please note this is a rental but the owners use it occasionally and they have made it a really comfortable home . Very well equipped . Well decorated and spotlessly clean . The main bedroom bed is extremely comfortable and there is lovely good quality bedlinen n thick white towels ! The sofa in the sitting room is fantastic for goggling and we even loved the cockerel next door called Boris although lots of comments from rental guests were not positive ones. Ella and Pete were very good at communicating . We are not great with technology so even with a dropped pin the house wasn’t easy to find but Ella was at the end of the phone and helped us find the home . St Agnes is a gem but we were out of season . Thx Pete thx Ella and also thx Nicola . So so enjoyed our stay . The lanes were full of wildflowers and garden escapes so i happily did lots of flower arranging . Strongly recommend . ”
